While researching supplements and health sites to help heal my digestive issues, I came across the Weston A. Price group on Meetup.com. I found many people who were taking cod liver oil and became intrigued. Once I learned more about it, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. Fermented cod liver oil is a traditional high-vitamin food full of Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and vitamin D. The oil contains high amounts of EPA and DHA, or fatty acids needed for proper functioning of the brain and nervous system. And I'm sure there are numerous health benefits, such as lower blood pressure, healthy skin, bones and joints, and better digestion (which is what I take it for). I found this blog here where a woman claims that the oil cleared up her skin. She even shows before and after pictures and I must say it's a significant change. She looks healthier, even "glowing."
Dr. Weston A. Price found these oils were up to ten times more present in remarkably healthy "primitive" cultures. Author Sally Fallon also mentions the benefits of these and other nutrient-dense oils in her book Nourishing Traditions. In my opinion, this books is a must-have for anyone passionate about health and nutrition.

Many other brands tend to refine their oils, killing the vitamins and then adding in synthetics. And if you read up on the difference, you will see the synthetics do not provide the same health benefits. The oil is also cold expeller pressed, so you know none of the nutrients are destroyed in the process. And best of all, the fish are sourced wild in the Arctic, not farmed.

Other sources include meats from grass-fed cows, fish eggs and shellfish.
